It is alarming that the crime rate has just skyrocketed. When I was growing up, I could just play outside with my friends without my parents worrying about me. We could go to a park and be meters away from our picnic space and still feel safe. 

I feel sorry for the children of this generation. They have missed out on the joys of playing safe and free. It does seem that the only safe place after dark is the home.
